WHY ALTITUDE DISRUPTS PERFORMANCE ON SET

Filming or performing at elevation places immediate and often underestimated stress on the body. Strength, endurance, coordination, and cognitive clarity can all be compromised during the initial days at altitude.

In many cases, it takes ten to fourteen days for performers to begin feeling physically strong, mentally clear, and energetically stable again. Unfortunately, most productions do not allow for this adjustment period. Performers are frequently expected to rehearse, perform, or film demanding scenes within hours or days of arrival.

This mismatch between physiology and production timelines can affect performance quality, recovery, and overall resilience during a shoot.

CONDITION AT ALTITUDE — BEFORE YOU TRAVEL

This altitude training system allows performers to begin adapting to elevation while still in New York City. By training in a simulated altitude environment ahead of travel, performers can reduce the physiological shock that typically accompanies arrival at elevation.

Preparation occurs before the shoot begins, not during it. The goal is to support strength, stamina, breath efficiency, and mental clarity so performers arrive better adapted, rather than depleted.

This approach is designed to complement the realities of production schedules while respecting the physical demands placed on performers.

WHAT THE WORK MAY INCLUDE

Each engagement is developed privately and tailored to the specific demands of the role, production timeline, and filming altitude.

Work may include altitude-based conditioning sessions, breath-driven core and endurance training, recovery and nervous system regulation strategies, and optional passive altitude exposure for rest or sleep. Programming is adjusted continuously based on how the performer responds.

There are no templates or preset programs. All work is individualized.

WHO THIS IS DESIGNED FOR

This work is designed for film, television, and stage performers preparing for productions at elevation, particularly when timelines are tight and physical or vocal demands are high.

It is also appropriate for productions seeking to support performers with safer, more resilient preparation prior to arrival on location.

All engagements are private and confidential.

OVERSIGHT & APPROACH

All altitude training protocols are developed and overseen by AJ Fisher, drawing on experience supporting performers and athletes in high-demand environments where breath control, endurance, and physical resilience are essential.

The approach is practical, research-informed, and shaped by real production constraints rather than theoretical models.

This work is offered on a limited, by-request basis and begins with a private

consultation to understand the role, production demands, timeline, and filming altitude.
